The Edison Public Library provides free resources and classes for patrons to expand their literacy skills in many areas- including speaking, reading, writing and digital literacy.
Our library is a part of the NJ State Library’s (NJSL) “Labor & Literacy Library” (L&LL) Program. NJSL and L&LL strive to support NJ Libraries as they provide assistance to their patrons seeking digital literacy skills, Adult Basic Education (ABE), English Language Learning (ELL/ESL), and job search assistance.
Services We Offer
Basic English
Our Basic English course is meant for those who are beginner to intermediate English learners. This course will be running for 12 weeks. Students will work with our ESL teacher to learn English vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation that is useful for day-to-day interactions.
Digital Literacy
Our Digital Literacy course is meant for people to gain basic computer skills. This course will be running for 12 weeks. Students will learn the basics of computer use and use the Northstar program to gain certificates in essential computer skills, essential software skills, and using technology in daily life.
Open Lab
Join us for open lab hours!
Get support in:
- Resume/job search assistance
- Earning Northstar certificates for digital literacy
- Gaining computer skills
- Navigating computer programs such as Windows 11, Microsoft and Google
American Sign Language – ASL deafined
Learn American Sign Language (ASL) at your own pace- through online videos and lessons from deaf instructors! Free access with your library card.
